For parties where most of the children are 6 years and over, Silly Soapy recommends a Circus Skills theme. It's something different and 'bags of fun'!!For a 2 hour birthday party, the format would typically run like this:
warm up play demonstration of equipment 4 stations which the children rotate around stations are: plate spinning, juggling, ribbon sticks, flower sticks Break for food Re-commence with free style section (peacock feather balancing, diabolo, skipping, hula hoops, lo-lo balls, pedal gos and pois or re-try some of the equipment used earlier) Finish with pedal go relay (treadle with wheels)
This party format is active and very motivational for children and often there are big surprises as children discover a talent that they did not know they had!!! The whole party is run in typical Silly Soapy style with lots of laughter and energy, within the confines of safety and control.
Circus Skills Workshops Silly Soapy works with local schools (4 - 11 years), to provide circus skills workshops. These help improve the childrens’ balance and co-ordination ability as well as their self esteem.
Also Silly Soapy runs workshops for Girl Guides, Brownie packs and Rainbows to assist them in achieving their circus skills badge. A workshop may include a combination of the following:
plate spinning juggling ribbon sticks flower sticks diabolo hula hoops, skipping, peacock feather balancing 'pedal go' relay' Sillys Soapy also runs Circus Skills Team Building events for the grown ups and sometimes as a social night out with a difference, because everyone has done the bowling night, go karting type office nights out.

For hosting a 2 hour birthday party it's £145.00, (includes supply of 'pass the parcel gift' and lollipops for this game) For 1 hour's entertainment it's £95.00 Weddings and family events it's £160.00 (as usually entertainment is for a whole 2 hours, the entertainment is usually based on circus skills equipment play as it appeals to a broad age range ie; from 2 years up to 12 years)

Biography Silly Soapy – alias Sophie O’Brien – enjoyed many roles over the last 25+ years within Sales, Marketing, Training and Human Resources Departments at both Barclaycard and latterly Mercedes-Benz. So CLOWNING and a Childrens’ Entertainer – has she gone mad. YES. Sophie was mad for not following her heart earlier and working with young ones – "that’s what really matters in our world", she says!!! Sophie also says, “what I’ve learnt in commercial business has helped me launch into being a children’s entertainer quite smoothly. The skills I learnt as a Trainer have been invaluable in understanding group dynamics and communicating with people in the various ways – which includes children. I am also a qualified Training Practitioner to NVQ3 level with the CIPD. Yes, learning some of the clown skills has taken lots of hours of practise, usually late into the evening, but I am now an accomplished clown, juggler, magician, plate spinner, uni-cyclist, story teller, games organiser and circus skills tutor.” Generally available at all times including weekends, Bank Holidays, week days and midweek teatimes.
Ali Ramsay Silverstone March 2010 Well I just don't know where to begin to thank you for turning Jack's 4th Birthday party into a magical fun packed two hours that I will never forget & hopefully Jack will always remember. It was his first party, I just don't know how I am going to top it next year!! The minute you walked in I loved the way you were in character for the whole time you were like a honey pot with all the children buzzing around even managing to get the most shy ones to join in. Our party has been the talk of the nursery with mums saying that their little one has never had so much fun at a party. It was lovely that I could sit & chat to the mum's & not have to worry about a thing, right down to you even providing the pass the parcel, which incidentally Jack absolutely adores & he has named it Soapy, it is his new best friend & goes every where with him. It was good to see the kids participating so much instead of just watching, they really enjoyed themselves and got involved. Bob Buntine, Head Teacher at July 2007 Circus Skills Workshop Silly Soapy attended this school on Friday 6thJuly 2007 to teach clown skills to both of our Y2 classes during two one hour sessions. The children loved the activities and threw themselves into trying to master a variety of routines. Many have since gone home and carried on trying to develop these skills. It is particularly pleasing to see some of our more reluctant children developing their fine motor skills on a voluntary basis as a legacy of this course. The sessions were fun as well as being well organised and I would not hesitate to repeat this experience for the children. The children could not stop talking about her at school and still tell me how much they enjoyed her...and they were all 8 and 9 years old!! Her endless energy and connection with the children (aged between 3 and 8) kept them all totally captivated through out the whole of the show. My son was a little apprehensive about clowns but was totally converted by the end of the show and has already requested that Silly Soapy' comes to his party again next year. Terry Mortimer – Headteacher Harpole Primary May 2007 Circus Skills Workshop Sophie O’Brien (Silly Soapy – the lady clown) spent 1 1/2 days in our school conducting her circus skills workshops. During this time she worked with every class from Foundation Stage through to Year 6. Each class had a 50 minute workshop. Sophie had an excellent rapport with the children in all classes, an impressive feat working with children from 4 – 11 yrs. Her control was also excellent. The activities were well planned and any potential risks were explained to the children prior to them undertaking them. It was fantastic to see such a level of enthusiasm from you towards the children, in helping them understand the importance of movement and exercise. The way in which you delivered the session, allowed the children to think about key concepts of healthy lifestyles and was ideally suited to them and their age group. They enjoyed watching you perform ‘tricks’ to them and that they could also participate in the session. All children remained attentive throughout the 30 minutes and were clearly engaged in what you were telling them. To encourage children to understand aspects of Physical development with your approach really was superb and very effective. It was particularly good the way you got them to think about breathing through the image of blowing up an imaginary balloon and by using a story to help convey messages about the need to exercise and stretch our bodies to keep them healthy."
